Watsonville Nature Center

Watsonville, California

Client: City of Watsonville, Watsonville Wetlands Watch
Size: 2,500 square feet
Services: Exhibit design, graphic design, project management, content development and final text

The City of Watsonville and Watsonville Wetlands Watch have brought together representatives and partners from throughout the county to ensure that the new Nature Center represents and engages all residents. New exhibits will be organic, participatory, and welcoming with plenty of space to work, play, or just hang out.

Exhibits interpret sustainable and resilient actions that residents can implement at home, from low-water landscaping to composting. A community gallery offers a space for visitors to explore and share ideas, questions, resources, and stories for a better Watsonville for everyone.

How do we co-create with the community?

The Exhibits Dept. hosted a series of participatory community workshops and site visits to hear directly from the audience about what they wanted to see and experience in the new Nature Center. Their input ensured that the exhibits reflect the voices and priorities of residents.
